BEL Contracting, part of NorLand Limited, is a civil contractor that has been active in the underground utility and road construction industry throughout Western Canada for over 40 years. BEL Contracting has a proven track record of successfully completing transportation and infrastructure projects for provincial, municipal, and private sector clients. Our team of skilled and experienced professionals deliver quality work while focusing on safety, efficiency, schedule, and budget.

 

We are currently looking for Civil Pipelayers to join our team for exciting Infrastructure projects in and around the Lower Mainland (Vancouver Area) of BC. There is no camp work/live out (LOA) available at this time.

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Being responsible for the efficient installation of all types and sizes of pipes
  • Working with the Foreperson and other team members to ensure that pipe is aligned and installed in accordance with project specification
  • Safely assembling and installing shoring cages
  • Working around live utility systems
  • Loading and unloading building materials and equipment as needed
  • Cleaning and maintaining sites to eliminate possible hazards and keep worksites clean and orderly
  • Attending and being an active participant in all mandatory safety meetings
  • Following instructions and operating as a productive member of a high functioning team
  • Working independently, as well as part of a team
  • Being punctual and having excellent attendance

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience with the safe assembly and installing of shoring cages
  • Experience in working around live utility systems
  • Safety knowledge and experience in the construction industry
  • Valid drivers license required, and your own transportation
  • Certifications an asset: First Aid, Confined Space, Utility Locating, Rigging, etc.
  • Preference given to those who are able to work with qualified apprentices and teach the trade
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of team; Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
  • Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, and lift 50lbs for full shift
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing

 

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel required
  • Required to wear respiratory protection often (must be clean-shaven)
  • Exposure to all weather conditions as work is outdoors

 

This is a Unionized position with LiUNA! Local 1611 Construction & Specialized Workers’ Union. This position will earn Union wages and will have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan.

 

Expected hourly rate:

Unionized base wage of $33.75 per hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate’s experience), plus 12% vacation/statutory holiday pay
